Shin Megami Tensei (真・女神転生, literally True Goddess Reincarnation) is a console role-playing video game from Atlus that was originally released on October 30, 1992 and later on several platforms, although no installment was released outside of Japan.

Several sequels followed. Shin Megami Tensei II (真・女神転生II Shin Megami Tensei Tsū) is a video game and direct sequel to Shin Megami Tensei for the Super Famicom released on March 18, 1994 in Japan.

It is a title within the Megami Tensei series of video games, and was released in Japan on October 8, 2009 and in North America on March 23, 2010. It is considered to be the fourth of the main Shin Megami Tensei games.
